Ministry of Transport: Trial Operation of China's First Localized Ship Traffic Management System

According to the Ministry of Transport, today (May 6th), China's first domestically produced ship traffic management system was put into trial operation in Weifang, Shandong. The overall architecture of the pure domestic ship traffic management system for this trial operation is mainly composed of one management center, namely Weifang Ship Traffic Management Center, one operation terminal, and one monitoring terminal. The information collection and processing layer mainly includes one radar station, one VHF communication base station, and a video monitoring system arranged around the Weifang Port Central Port Area. The Weifang Ship Traffic Management System uses the first domestically produced maritime application radar in China. The radar has a scanning radius of 45 kilometers (24.3 nautical miles) and basically covers the entire jurisdiction of Weifang. The radar data can real-time grasp the overall situation of the sea surface. In this system, China has achieved comprehensive localization and application of various links such as front-end radar signal acquisition, data processing, control operation, and comprehensive display.
